Nobody should be to proud to consider advanced driving lessons. I have been participating in motor cycle and car racing for over 35 years and I still learn something new each time. I believe that if you take an off road Land Rover type course this will give you great confidence. You will learn traction, vehicle ability and good all round skills to use in emergencies. Go for it.

I'd recommend taking a Pass Plus driving course first. It will improve your general driving and refresh your memory on the things you've forgotten in the last 4 years. You also don't have to take a test at the end but you get a certificate that will give you cheaper car insurance. I'd then ask my instructor what they'd recommend given your circumstances :-)

Yes, your license is solid proof you as a person is capable of driving, even if you don't drive at all for years on end, you can still drive.
All depends on what type of driving career you want to get into, taxi?, bus?, chauffeuring?, long distance maybe?.. there is loads of help out there to get you started.. you will off course need special licenses for most of these but they shouldn't be too hard to pass.
I myself only passed 6 months ago and i bought a car brand new and its only clocked up just over 1000 miles, so im just like you

best bet is to contact a local driving instructor and get him/her to take you back through the basics again, shoud only take a couple lessons, you could do a pass plus but this is quite expensive and I dont think you need it as the main aim of pass plus is for first time drivers to help reduce the cost of the insurance as well as gaining more experience ie night time driving and speed. Alot of driving comes down to gaining the experience as you go.Good luck.

There are many organisations in the UK who offer advanced tuition from those who feel they need to brush up on their skills and knowledge as you do to those who want to become racing or rally drivers. Check your yellow pages for organisations in your area or simply punch "Advanced Driving Tuition" into your web browser, you will be surprised at how many offer this service.
I would add my congratulations to you personally for recognising the fact that you need some extra tuition and facing it full on. Many would not admit their inexperience and possibly end up in trouble. Good luck to you, you have my admiration and, after some advanced instruction, I hope your employment plans work out.

You can do pass plus. Also if you been insured for 4 years you already are classified as experienced driver. Just try to drive more and on fast roads.

Try the institute of advanced motorists.
Almost everyone who has went out with one of thier observers has learnt very useful skills. I havn't met anyone who didn't learn anything.
There is no certificate that shows you have experience, however if you pass their test it does show you have skills that many drivers do not.
