I really messed up in highschool and ended up getting pregnant at 15. I've graduated and now attend a community college. I am taking pre-pharm classes and plan on transfering to SIUE for the pharm program. Math is my favorite subject and science is just ok to me. i know that i will take mainly science classes in pharmacy school. But i want to know are the classes really complicated. Will be classes that u have to study study study and still b hard to pass. Just wondering, because i have a 2 year old and i have help, but i know it may still b a struggle. I may try to be a Math teacher or some other career that deals with math

Pharmacy school is quite hard and the classes are difficult and time consuming. Also, you have to do quite a few hours of internship - in the local school I believe it is about 1500 hours before you graduate with your PharmD.

I don't think that is an impossible task, but it certainly is not easy. I guess it depends how good a support system you have.

If you find calculus easy and had no problems with chemistry and organic chemistry, then you should be ok, but there is definitely a LOT of chemistry in pharmacy. And there is a lot of memorizing, although I think the advice about taking Latin is not very useful. Most drug names do not come from Latin except for the ones that were named back in the 1700s.

The idea about being a math teacher is pretty good. You would not make as much money, but you would have a pretty good life and have a lot of time off. Check with your local education dept to see if there really is a shortage of math teachers, as people sometimes say. There may be a naitonal shortage, but that doesnt mean there is a shortage in YOUR neighborhood.

SIUE pharm does give strong preference to students from southern Illinois.
Classes are hard, and you will need to regularly to get a C. However, hardly anyone fails. You will be in class all day. We have students who have kids and make it through.

Yes it is. I would take a couple of classes in Latin to help. Most of the medicines that we use today, their names come from Latin root words. Knowing Latin will be a great help and make things easier
