You should have the best watch you can afford. A watch is more than a useful tool; it is a status symbol (people may disagree about that, or feel that it is unfair - but it is TRUE!!).
Now when you say "expensive", that is a very relative term. I bought my wife a 24mm Rolex Datejust with a stainless jubilee bracelet, stainless case, salmon colored dial and 18K white-gold bezel. Retail for this is $4,700 (I paid less through a grey market source), but it is far less than the $30,000 Rolex Masterpiece that she had her eye on.
Of course you may think $1,000 + for a Tag Heuer, Raymond Weil or Omega Constellation is expensive - I don't know. The important thing is not to skimp. Get the absolute best watch that you can afford.

You'd be surprised by how much a watch can change the way people treat you. That may not sound fair, but I find that depending on how I dress and the accessories that I'm wearing, please treat me completely differently. Invest in a nice watch with a bracelet (straps don't last as long) that can be versatile enough for dressing up and down. Depending on what you consider expensive, you may want to check out some Omegas for lower end watches of high quality, and up to Patek for the best of the best. The other great thing about investing in nice watches is that they usually are automatic (without batteries), so you don't have to worry about it stopping. :)

You don't need to buy an expensive watch.
They are basically the same.
The cheapER watches Are brighter, and in my opinion cooler, than the really expensive ones

if ur asking this question, u must not have alot of money. do u hang out with people who have a lot of money. if u do, get a real watch. if they wont know the difference, get whatever u want, a watch is a watch.

It depends on how you are going to use it, how often you are going to wear it, and what's in your budget.
