yes a b18a1 will fit in your car. yes you have to change the tranny. it is worth the change, but you should stay with something that is newer. like a k20, or an ls vtec b18. the horsepower gains are for the most part, similar, it just takes a little money. im not too sure what the horsepower stock on a d16y8 is, but a b18a1 is about 130. oh, and by the way, all b series engines/trannys, will all fit together and are interchangeable with parts.

Yes a motor swap is possible but it would be cheaper to put a turbo on your car. If your only looking to increase power to the low 200's a turbo kit would be fine if you want more than that you would need to swap motors and put a turbo on.

yes it does fit. you have to use the b18a tranny along with the other goodies like ECU and probably the wiring harness. the d16y is sohc vtec the b18 is dohc non vtec. the b18has more potential and power right of the back.

yes, and go for it. the B18 engines are all from integras, which are the only hondas I have any problems with.. So if you want real hp numbers my boy has a B18 non vtec that puts down 300whp and 260tq with a turbo kit and open downpipe
