i don't like snakes either, and if my dad won't buy me a dog, i don't think he'll be pleased with a horse

Snakes. A boa constrictor. You can feed him a rat about once a month.

When I was in college and was limited on what pets I could own (I've had everything under the sun over the years) I ended up getting a ferret, and she was awesome! They're relatively inexpensive as far as initial price and long-term care. You can get them with their glands removed so they have virtually no odor, and they get along just fine w/o them. They can be trained to use a litter box, walk on a leash, play with toys, etc. If you get a young one so it's used to you from the beginning, there's almost no fear of a bite. They'll recognize and respond to their names. They'll come greet you when you walk in the door and curl up on your chest for a nap. The down falls are that they are experts at theft (I lost my wallet for about a week) and hiding places (she actually figured out how to get into the couch). And they do require about as much attention as a dog. They're more of a commitment than other rodents as they can live up to 8-10 years. But I would definately suggest looking into them!

i hadthe smartest little white mouse..my dad foundone trick or treat night(i know part of rat family...but rats are mean and little white mice are cute and can be taught to do tons of things.
u could get a hedge hog but they can take lot of work to get them use to handleing..their spikes hurt. my hamsters where neat i couldn't teach them much.
gienia pigs can be a bit of fun they are bigger i had a male it smelled bad clean or not. and would squeal all night.
i never had a bunny but a friend of mine did and they could let it outta cage and it would go back to use it's box to potty.
right now i have betta fish in one gallon tanks around my house. u can get some really pretty ones or u could get a bigger tank and have many differ fish. or and oscar 9by it's self they get big and can be fun to....
good luck.

Fish are pretty and easy, but are hard to play with. Honestly, I would persuade your dad to let you adopt a dog from a shelter. I love my puppies.

This could be a problem. Get some fish. You can have a blast with fishtanks. I know you can't pet them, but they are clean, contained, and have lots of color.
