I have bought float frames, which will encase the bills in two pieces of glass, which means I can view them from both the front side or flip them to view the back sides. My concern is that glass has chemicals that could possibly damage the notes. Perhaps discolor the note over time, or something along those lines. Anyone think my fear is valid or that nothing at all will happen to the bills? Any other damage I may not be considering? Thanks!

The glass will not harm the bills, but sunlight and other light sources will. The chemicals in use in your home can cause problems. There are some harsh chemical is floor cleaners or rug cleaners. Most bills I have seen on a wall, are copies of the original, that are safely tucked away some place. I collect coins and know what happens there and currency is much more porous than metal. They do make special glass that is used in museums, that make what is behind it safe from sunlight and other sources. It maybe wise to pay a visit to a museum and ask a few questions. They also make what is called a safety holder for paper money, it is a hard plastic. It is the soft plastic one that must not be used, for the chemicals in them break down the plastic after a time. Hope I helped a little here.

I collect old money as well. If you're worried about chemical damage use a plastic bag (you can buy them at your local coin shop), place your bill in, smooth out all the sides then place it into your frame. The bill will never touch the glass if you do this. It is a good idea to get your bill closed up as soon as possible. Old bills have a tendancy to "die" in the air. 100 + years old needs to be kept in a low lit room for preservation. That's about all I can suggest right now.
