Dillon should hang the cleats up next to the superbowl rings & retire with his head held high. Don't pull an Emmit Smith or Eddie George.

I dont understand where you people get your facts from.
Dillon is still under contract with the Pats.
The issue is simply that he has a relativley high cap number I think in the 4+ million range.
If the team thinks that is too much to pay a back that is sharing carries they MIGHT cut him.
Another, more likely option is that they simpley ask him to restructure his contract into something more reasonable like in the 3+million range.
Also, the Pats might feel that he is still worth the 4 mill and just keep his contract the way it is.
In my humble opinion Corey Dillon is still a productive, powerful, sledgehammer of a back. A PERFECT combo with Boney Marroney. Dillon should play out his contract with the Pats and possiblely retire after next season. That being said, don't be surprised if the past draft a back that is similar in running style to Dillon as a safety net and someone they can groom while Maronney and Dillon punch defenses in the mouth.

Dillon has a ring he has money. On the other hand he was completely healthy still holding a ypc avg. of 4.1. There will be a few teams that will ask him to come and help them, Certainly when you look at the RB's in the draft this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Broncos offer an invitation to him. Just like to point out that "us" people get are sources from the news. Dillon asked for his release and it has been granted. Officialy before March 1st when he is do a roster bonus.

Because he wants to play. He got his ring and that was the reason he left the Bengals. He is too selfish for the Patriots in my opinion. He has always been selfish in his NFL career. It worked good with the Bengal because he was a big star on a weak team. The Pats told him to grow up basically and be a team player. Now he wants out because he can't be the star. Sorry but as a Steelers fan, who has somewhat followed him from when he was a big name on a weak division rival, that is my honest view of him.

He may be a little aggravated with Lawrence Maroney getting the ball so much but overall he will stay. He has done well with the Patriots and will probably stay with them. He trusts the team and coaches. He knows he will be taken care of. He knows he is not invincible but with his teams help he will be close to it. That team is his family and him leaving because of money or anger is very small.

Because he is getting old and when players get old they feel like they have to prove that they still have something left in the tank and he may not feel like the pats give him the best chance to do that.

He wants to be a marquee RB but does not have the talent to pull it off. He might as well retire at the middle of his game.

he is actually talking abut retiring. He wants to be able to play with his kids and not ruin his health by playing too long and getting his body all worn down.
