If the Renn' Faire was actually something else, and not the wonderful faire it really is.....?

What would it be? and why?

if say we lived in an alternative reality..or were to go and visit one...and the Renn faire was there...what would it be used for,and why?

Would it be safe? or not?
Could we involve ourselves with the others among the faire?
also, what if it were actually either a secret code of some type, and or a secret society...what would the people of that society be doing in the Renn Faire?

I dare you to just use your wildest ideas and imagination...just have some fun with this question...there isn't any other reason I asked this...it's just a fun imaginative question...there are NO hidden agendas for asking this...it's based on just fun!
