b/c they're cowards..when they were bad, they were afraid to say they were Tigers fans. How many people say that they're D-Rays fans? I have never heard of anyone say they were a D-Rays fan. Do you know why? b/c they're scared and have no pride in their team. Before this year, I haven't heard anyone say they were Tigers fans. Now that they made it to the World Series, all of a sudden millions of people say they're Tigers fans. It's unbelievable.

Some people just have to do what is cool, or be fans of the cool team. Many people may not have a team they grew up watching, maybe they lived where there was no local team, so they go from team to team, depending on who is good from year to year. Whatever motivates them, at least they are watching baseball enough to know who the good team is, which baseball needs right now.
And remember, people can like a team, or be a fan of a team, even if its not their favorite team. Im a Rangers fan, but I like the Twins because they win without the big salaries. So dont be quick to write someone off becuase they are all of the sudden a fan of the hot team.

The same way people call themselves Yankee fans. or Sox fans. They want that feeling of pride when they say "I'm a Yankee fan." Meanwhile, they can't tell **** from their elbows. Have u ever heard someone openly admit they like the D - Rays, or the Rockies, no. Then they buy all the tickets and cheer for a person they don't even no what position he plays. I say people should stop being fairweather fans, and start likeing teams like the D - Rays, or Nationals. Then we would have a good leauge, because the real Yankee fans, ie: ME, who actually know something about their history besides Babe Ruth, would get to see the team they love.
This doesn't just go with the Yankees, although it happens every year because they own, but it happens with the Red Sox, and any other team that has a winning streak.

Are you new to sports? This is how it always is...people either a)won't admit their a fan of a crappy team or b) want to jump on the bandwagon of the team that's good making it more difficult for true fans to be believed. This is how it is in all sports...these people are quite similar to 'fair weather' fans (those that only like they're team when it's doing good). Sad but true.
And all it really does is make tickets harder to come by (and more expensive).
btw...I live in the city of their farm team, so it's only natural to root for the Tigers since we had the opportunity to watch many of the players before they made the bigs...
And last year, my spring break was spent divided between Tigers and Indians spring training games.

I personally dont mind bandwagoners. I grew up in Chicago so I have always been a Cubs fan but I think a person can cheer for whatever team they want. Another point, nobody was a fan of the Tigers before 2006.

Why does it effect you or your passion for the Cubbies. I have loved the Tigers since Kaline to the present. My first MLB game was at Wrigley, Cubs v. Mets. The Cubbies are my NL team. Bandwagon fans create atmosphere and fill the seats. Filled stadiums mean better signings.

Fans go with the teams that win. Real true fans stay with the teams that they have been rooting for all along. People like to say that they root for winners. When that team starts to lose they go to whoever was next or won the most games
its just the way some people go

Some of them are bandwagon jumpers. I don't respect them. I am a Yankee fan since the days of Donnie Baseball, who will always be my favorite Yankee. I guess the bandwagon jumpers think that it is cool these days to be Tigers fans. I agree with your statement with the exception that the Yankees are the team that I go for.

That's baseball in Motown for you, my friend. We have three constants here: The Red Wings (who are constantly good and make the playoffs just about every year), the Pistons (ditto) and the Lions (consistently the worst team in pro football). Our baseball teams seem to go in cycles, and while we do have a lot of die-hard Tigers fans the vast majority of the so-called "fans" you see now are the fair-weather fans who are thrusting their chests out and saying "I'm a Tigers fan" because the Tigers did so well last year. ANSWER: Yes, the band-wagoners need to get a freakin' life.

You mean you're not going to blow another one against the Royals and waste the gift the White Sox handed you by beating Minnesota again today? It looks like you are. 9-6 Royals in the top of the eighth. Better hope the Sox beat the Twins again tomorrow so that you can back into the division title and avoid getting slaughtered by the Yankees in the ALDS.

They're bandwagon fans. They will only claim fanship if their team is winning. I've been a Tigers fan since I was 4, granted I don't watch baseball that often... but I did cry when that last guy struck out...
