In the world, money is a measure of someone's net worth. (Real people know that their self worth and esteem do not depend on money). Net worth is a way to improve one's lot. It's much better to hop into a nice hot shower than rinse in the Ganges. So it takes money to improve one's standard of living. a higher standard of living means better education, better health and diet, nicer clothes, travel, etc. But here's the problem: on a macro scale there are different ideals in the world striving for power and to outdo each other for control. The power brokers behind these ideaologies use money as their means of control. They use it control masses of people, organizations and institutions. Look at how difficult it is to get basic health care without money? There is enough food in the world to feed everyone, but the problem is the flow of money.

Money is not a bad thing; it's the love of money for ulterior purpose that's evil. Money is just a tool to exchange one's value, since barter is awkward. It's easier for me to pay you a dollar for a haircut and you pay me one for my bread, than to exchange the real goods.

But the flow and control of money by a few is the real demon. Simple people can live without it, but nobody who wants control and self worth via money will offer you their product or service without it.

Money has always been around, and has always been important.

Even in the earliest centuries, gold and goods were used as things of value to either buy or trade other things.

The issue of life being complicated has less to do with money, persey, and more to do with the gross intrusion of "Technology" into every facet of our day to day life.

The human race has come farther in the last 100 years than in all the previous generations and centuries before. On the grand scale/graph of life, we have hit a montrous rise, and i would say a "peak"......life is far to complicated and unbalanced now.

Money no longer has the true value or attainability as it once did. The rich get richer and the poo stay relatively poor. There are exceptions, of course....but the truth is that the availability of the American dream is not what it once was.

So, my friend, it is the question of technology, not money...that has complicated our lives and led to extreme unease and unhappiness in our society.

JMO.....Blessings and Peace!

The simple answer is that Money as been made into a religion.

By the capitalist to feed the rich by the rich. The thing is that every body wants to be rich and that then reinforces it.

Even more on the working people that are prepare to work.

The capitalist does not want to work. They just want what other have and will do anything to get the hard earned cash from others. They use deceit or legalised theft or by waging wars.

Just as long as we go on electing the capitalist to leadership rolls then we our self have condemned the world to constant slavery. Thing will never change until we all accept responsibility for yourselves.

Capitalism is (I want it, you got it, I will take it) if you do not give it, then I will make war on you.

That is why money as been made so important.

Not until we get ride of Capitalism can we ever go back to a life of peace.

Your question is too open. And as many have already pointed out, fiat money (as opposed to bartering or using money with intrinsic value; e.g., gold) does make life and our ability to obtain goods and services MUCH LESS complicated. Going one step further, thank goodness for credit!

I sense something else, though. Perhaps you are concerned with the level of consumption, negative savings rate, or the feeling that we covet more than is healthy? Or perhaps you believe that a hard-working lifestyle, though more physically difficult, was indeed less complicated. Although this is not entirely the fault of money.

Money has always been used, just not in the form of metals and paper. In the medieval times, a lot of people didn't have currency, so they used food, clothing, animals, and I would bet sometimes children as a form of payment. And money is so important because money equals power. And without some kind of power or authority, there would be chaos, kind of like in revolutions. Know ones in charge, everyone wants power...there aren't any boundaries. Money, gives people power, because the people with money can do things that allow them to achieve power, such as get a higher education, or do things that make people support them. Money determines how technologically, and medically advanced you are. Compare poor Africa to rich America...Who has more money? Who is more advanced? Without money, a trade system, rich people, and poor people, the world just wouldn't work.

Life doesn't go backwards. It is always unfolding, evolving, increasing in complexity. Simpler life is less life. But don't worry, you'll get your wish in less than 1/4 century. When we run short of fossile fuel, human civilization will collapse back to something "less complicated," and nearly 6 billion people will die. Do YOU live within walking distance of the nearest, naturally occurring source of potable water? Do you even know where it is?

I hope this helps .Squirrels store food for winter because just eating the food will not sustain them during the winter. The food is then available as needed for their survival. The squirrel that doen't store his food probably will die during the winter.
Money represents and functions like food in the example. It is societies method of giving us a medium of exchange which we can use when and for what we want or need.
It isn't the money that causes problems, its the people. Money is only of value for what it represents. When it is perceived as a value to be desired in itself, the whole system becomes distorted.Greed, competition, stealing etc. then enter the picture. We know the rest of the story.

People who do their hardest to amass their wealth will oppose to what your idea. They will do anything to make sure that won't happen.

What do you think the politician will do, they lie cheat and steal all these time is to get to the position where money comes easy and legally, do you think they will give it up ?

It will not get less complicated until the human society becomes simple again.
