the PC3200 DDR you where talking about on your computer has nothing to do with Video that is your system memory. Before you buy make sure you have the right slots for it most are PCI-EXPRESS or AGP now though. The 256MB RAM is built onto the video card for graphic's. I would go with DDR-2 The memory processes faster meaning that your computer resource will not be used as much when play a graphicical game. Hope with help. I like NVidia myself though.

Graphics cards nowadays use GDDR. It's made to handle heat and extreme speed boosts, and works differently than your standard DDR or DDR2. So long as your board supports an AGP card, a PCI card, or a PCI-Express card, you can install any of them. Just make sure you knwo which interface you have.

The X1300 uses GDDR2, Teh X1800/1900 uses GDDR3. The differences mean nothing to a computer, just more speed capabilities from the card.

Hope this helps.

you know, when it comes down to the real world new technologies not always make a big difference, you should worry about the graphic procesor, but not too much of the type of ram.

and yes the type of memory used by the Vcard is all independent of the main Ram of your computer.
