As an American i can tell you 1) Majority of Americans are dumb sheep 2) UK is generally well thought of and considered our closest ally.
Our 2 countries are very similar and have the same basic idea of what we would like the world to become. Most Americans I know still feel a bond with UK that we don't with anyone else since our culture evolved mostly from British culture.
It seems to me that everyone is drifting away from everyone else today because of terrorism, the terrorism done to stop the spread of terrorism, and the basic fractionation of the global community.
I gotta admit...I miss the days of the Cold War where everyone knew which side they were on and no terrorist tried anything large scale since they would have both superpowers and all their allies right up their chute if they did.

I believe that the people are our closest allies. I believe your GOV trys to hard at being populists. Ex... Mr. Blair is talking about removing troops from Iraq. We actually could use twice as many.
And in the same breath Mr. Bush should be letting our guys fight this war like a war and not a playground game. We should both have our fleets sitting in the gulf and in the Med bombing the living daylights out of them.
The only other bad thing I could really say is, that you people except all of those taxes you pay to support a "royal" family who already owns 1/2 the country?? I know you are proud to have them, but what gives them the right to live that way??
These are the ONLY two bad things I can say.
I was stationed in Spain for 12 of my 21 years in the USN, and spent agreat deal of my leave in the UK. I was ALWAYS treated great and ALWAYS felt at home. Yes I think it still exists, I do know that if you had started the war that I would want us to be helping you.

I can't speak for the rest of Americans, but in my family, we're pretty fond of the Brits. I think the UK is definitely viewed as an allie, and I think that because we share so much history with England we'll always have a special connection.
On a personal note, I'm moving to Scotland later this year, so I'm definitely a fan of the UK.

I think Americans are envious of th UK sometimes. Everybody hates us, we can't even keep peace within our own government, everyone wants to attack us. But Britain seems so peaceful compared to us. I think we have become allies of some sort, but I think Britain is so much better off than the USA.

I've always been interested in the British. Would like to learn more about your customs and would like to be friends. I suspect that I like you folks more than some of you like us.
I think we've been allies for quite a while. Closer because of terrorism, yes.
