For me, I had some beta fish..and those fish seemed to love hearing my voice..and when I would take my guitar and sing..they would come very close to the side of the bowl just to sit and be slightly still and "listen"...I believe that they are very intelligent fish...also I used to have an albino "water puppy" or salamander...and "Leslie"(I don't know if it was a male or female, LOL!) would come up on the glass, and watch me...and not go back down...even after I had fed "him"(for now, I will say him), he would stay with me...and just "listen" for what seemed like a long time!!! LOL! Very sweet little creature! I loved that !

"Besides humans, the ten most intelligent animals are: chimpanzees,
gorillas, orangutans, baboons, gibbons, monkeys (many species,
especially macaques), smaller toothed whales (especially killer whales
or Orcas), dolphins, elephants, and pigs."

According a web log, a recent televsion program on the Travel Channel
ranked the 10 smartest animals (in order of increasing intelligence):
"squirrel, squid, raven, dog, pig, parrot, elephant, monkey, dolphin,
ape"

Obviously, this second list differs from the first list because of the
way it lumps certain types of animals together (e.g., gorillas, chimps
and orangutans are all apes). Another reason, though, is that it's
difficult to compare intelligence across different species. Thus,
rankings are somewhat subjective.

"Q What are the 10 most intelligent animals?
A It's difficult to gauge intelligence because of all the factors
involved. While monkeys and apes exhibit the most humanlike
intelligence, studies of ravens and parrots reveal an aptitude for
problem solving and octopuses show an amazing capacity for
memorization. Biologists suggest that overall, mammals are the
smartest. Apes and monkeys are followed in intelligence by large
aquatic mammals like dolphins and whales that are capable of learning
symbolic communication. Cats and dogs match or surpass all animals
except for apes, some monkeys, and large aquatic mammals."

I hope this helps

I see someone has already commented on rats, but they are very intelligent animals. I recently saw a show on the National Geographic Channel that showed how rats are being trained & used to detect land mines! They are so light that they can walk right up to them and sniff them out without setting them off.

I have had rats who learned tricks like fetching, coming when called (especially if you have a treat reward!), doing an obstacle course, etc.

Very smart animals!

Yeah animals love music and melody and also plants. But not rash music like rock. It's really sweet I know. My sister is learning Carnatic music (A type of classical music in India), and my cats love to hear her sing. But they are very unfamiliar with her shruti box- a tune box to set the pitch and act strangely with it and it is also very cute and funny to watch

I say dogs and blind animals. Dogs come when you call or whistle loud and clear. Blind animals are trained to do this paricular thing by sating a word aloud. For example, you have a blind horse. When you shout "Hawdeeeee!" to it, it will jump( This is only an example.I do no say you have a horse anyway.).

Crows are extremely intelligent! I was watching a show on them yesterday. Monkeys are frighteningly smart, too.

I've found that monkeys and dolphins are the smartest animals on earth. Also, it's been a proven fact by scientists, too.

Rats are pretty intelligent-for rodents. I think they have hamsters and gerbils beat. They are much more social and loyal with their owners.
