If she was a good mother (i'm not saying that she isn't) then she would teach her daughter not to bow to peer pressure to drink, smoke, have sex, etc, and thus trust that her daughter will do the right thing, rather than banning her from dating altogether. Has she not learnt anything from her own childhood. She was brought up by a strict religious father that banned her from certain things, but what did she do? She rebelled. And that is what her daughter is going to do if she imposes ridiculous bans on her such as not being allowed to date!! What do other people think??

As parents, we do what we feel is best for our children and if we are really good parents, we don't give a rip what others think.

I have a very pretty , intelligent and funny 15 year old daughter who cannot date until she is 18. Why, because we think she needs to concentrate on things that are more important in her life, like getting to know who she is, what she likes and is interested in and what her career/life goals are. She keeps busy with school, school related clubs and activities, volunteer work and the phone and computer (both of which are monitored) She is definitely allowed to go places with groups including boys, but no "dates." She doesn't need the complications of dealing with her adolescent angst and some boy's hormones.

Madonna (and anyone else in the public eye) also has the added difficulty of just that, the public eye. Adolescence is hard enough without the notoriety it brings.

i think of that's. Lourdes has a very distinctive existence to that of 'regular' young little ones her age and that i'm specific Madonna is likewise going from her own stories while she became youthful! shall we face it, she is ordinary with of what men are like greater advantageous than everybody, she has met some in her time! perchance some human beings experience that's hypocritical of her yet i think of she could be doing the main appropriate factor. I actually have a feeling Lourdes would be sensible to a great variety of the boys that she would be ready to fulfill while she is older so banning her won't be a bad factor.

Absolutely have to disagree with you. I think that Madonna is finally making some good responsible decisions, and especially as her daughter is celebrity connected it would be harder for her to find a guy who isnt into her just because shes Madonna's daughter and at 16 most girls are too naive to know that its not always love and they dont say what they mean (heck Ive met people near 25 who still dont get that) and so her daughter will probably turn out the better for it. She wont necessarily rebel - especially if Madonna isnt strict in all other areas.

I understand where you are coming from but Madonna didn't really rebel, she doesn't smoke or do drugs. She looks after herself and has a heck of a lot of self discipline and she doesn't go into rehab at the slightest hiccup in her life, she was a straight A student and all round good American girl. If you consider a few raunchy pop videos to be rebellion then so be it but she just does what she has to to gain publicity, Not forgetting she is also a multi millionaire. So all in all her strict upbringing taught her self discipline, strength, confidence, determination and worldwide success.

YES!!! I think it is extremely redundant of her to set such high standerds for her daughter, when she herself is attention-****, NO DISRESPECT meant by that, just saying that i know for a fact that she didn't do all of this expicit material when she was 10 years old, it all started when she hit stardom, so answering your question, yes, i think it is VERY stupid of her to do that, when she herself is making out with briteny spears, infront of EVERYONE, and on britneys music video, wow, im very glad i found that out about madonna, thats kinda hypocritical of her if i might add...but to each is own, i think you should lead by example, i dont think "do as i say, and not as i do" is a good way of raising your children, TRUST ME!

I guess its up to Madonna what rules she decides are best for her daughter. But of course those could change as Lourdes grows up.

No. She's trying to instill things in the daughter that were lost to her. She may change her mind between now and then, and most parents usually say one thing when a child is very young and then change as they mature

SHE DOESN'T WANT HER DAUGHTER TO DO THE SAME THINGS SHE DID. I DON'T AGREE WITH BANNING HER FROM DATING BECAUSE I TOO FEEL IF SHE DOES THEN LOURDES WILL REBEL. BUT THEN AGAIN I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT IS TO BE EITHER OF THEM SO I CAN'T REALLY SAY YA KNOW. THEY LIVE TOTALLY DIFFERENT LIVES THAN WE DO.

In this day and age, I'm not too surprised. I can see a time when parents no longer allow their daughters out without a chaperone! If it's not drugs or drinks, it's sex. It will be chastity belts next!

people who won't learn from the past just end up repeating it.....she's setting herself up to have a kid as rebellious as she was but then you are assuming she is raising Lourdes to not do all those things which will be kind of hard since she made a career out of being as out side the limits as she could. Seems like a case of do as I say not as I do to me
