Don't say in conclusion, or any synonym. It's done to death and is a cop out. Start your essay with a paragraph that says what your going to say. In the body of the essay, write a paragraph about every topic you introduced in the first paragraph. In the conclusion, restate what you said in the intro differently, summing it all up. Its the easiest essay formula: Say what you're going to Say, Say it, then Say what you Said. By writing your intro, you've essentially already written your conclusion. Remember, no new ideas in the conclusion, it should simply restate what you already talked about.

To summarize. In summary. I think conclusion is too certain for most discursive essays.

In stead of saying " in conclusion", say something like, " And so with all the help that the florida research company has provided, many geese in southern canada will now have at least one fulfilling stop on the long annual commute south". Summthin like that.
