My boyfriend is a big liar...or was? He the kind of person that prefers to hide something before getting in an argument with the one he loves (me) or anyone else. He has so many things hidden. I hate him for being like that. I've also learned to cope with him....what else can I do? I've been with him for 5 yrs.... is it too late to go back and say "oh sorry your a liar and I just realized that, bye!"? I knew he was a liar since the first week I met him. Will he ever be a better person and not lie? or will he just find better ways to make me believe he is not lying?

Yes, they can. Anyone can change if they genuinly want to. If your boyfriend decides that he will be honest with himself he will be able to make a real change. If he still thinks that lies are justified, there is no hope for a long-term change.

Your boyfriend fits the description of a compulsive liar.

Compulsive liars fib for many different reasons, but most often its due to a lack of self-esteem. They wish to impress those around them, and when they feel that their own life and the circumstances of their life are inadequate, they will lie to impress.

Others lie to hide their wrongdoings. And still others just lie to lie. It's a sickness, and there really is no cure.

Most compulsive liars end up badly. They live thier lies to the point that they are unable to separate their fantasy world, created by their lies, from reality. However, reality eventually comes crashing in, one way or another, toppling this fantasy and crushing the liar. The results of this crash are often devastating to the liar and those around him/her.

My advice to you is to separate yourself from this liar, so you are not affected when reality comes crushing down on him.

I believe all humans will see that immorality in any shape or form is not in the individual's best interest, and therefore unintelligent. concerning your boyfriend, it is impossible for me to say anything about individuals, but it is possible he will figure this out before it is too late, that is, You're gone!

some dont ever change. my ex was like that. he lied about everything. everything. except i was too dumb to believe they were lies for years. i was with him for 5 years, and finally i couldnt take it anymore. he still lies about stuff, things about me and him, and i havent talked to him in over 4 years now. some people just CANT tell the truth. dont deal with him. he's not going to change. if he wont tell you the truth, he's just using you. find someone worth it.

I think you know the answer to that question and may be having difficulty accepting that he is not treating you well. Believe me, there are plenty of much more reliable fish in the sea.

first off... why havent you left this guy allready?!?!!??!

if he really loved you, he wouldnt lie to you...

now, if hes making stories that just make him look good in everyone elses image, thats fine... but if he's saying one thing and doing different... dump him. dump him now or go to dr.phil soon... my mom lied to me all the time.... i havent talked to her in 7 years....
