If it's something else I'm not sure you would want to intrude on the "forest time"...

Your friend is probably trying to connect with reality...the basic function of life, Nature, Sun, Stars, Air, Flora, Fauna, Elements and...taking a break from contributing to altering and destroying this gift we call Earth. If your friend has a cell phone, 4 wheel ATV, and an R.V., he's probably just growing something or cooking up some crap to sell.

i grew up on the ocean and now i work in the woods. it's the most quiet peaceful place i can think of. perhaps your friend is seeking solace they can't find anywhere else. take a walk with them in the woods, perhaps you'll grow to love it as well.

may be he likes isolation,nature for he is fed up of the world and for my experience if he ususlly remains quite he has some sorrow in his heart .
