Just sit your GCSE's this year in June and apply for colleges. Try and make sure that you get grades A*-C in Maths, English and Science since these are pretty important subjects and many A-Level and University courses require a minimum C to enrol. Anyway, the good news is that if you don't get the minimum requirements. many colleges/sixth forms let you resit certain GCSE's while you are studying your A-Levels. That's what one of my friends did and she's now doing a PGCE to teach Maths. Anyway, the best thing to do is talk to your Careers adviser at school. They should be able to help. Good Luck.x

How confident do you feel abt passing your GCSEs? Did u get some teaching in hospital/did your school give u work to do at home? I would do your GCSEs at school, and apply for A levels as normal at college. If you don't pass the GCSE's, the college will suggest you retake them anyway. There's always lots of last minute juggling around all these courses. You won't be the only one.

It won't do any harm for you to apply for A levels (it would actually be better to apply) because you might pass and get in. But if you don't pass, you can retake your GCSEs at college. Colleges are aware that students might not get the necessary grades to get in and many will still offer you the place, except you do a different course (e.g. GCSE retakes). And even if one college doesn't offer you the place anymore, I guarantee that another one will take you - colleges even recruit new students at the last minute, at the start of term (I changed from a college I didn't like to a different one and they took me and two of my other friends in, even though they were already 2 weeks into the term). Don't worry about it - you'll be fine either way!

If I were you I would go to the open day and talk with them at college, they may not let you take A levels without any GCSEs but I am worried that you will be stuck with a bunch of idiots in a GCSE class who are only there for the EMA money and it'll ruin your chances of doing well.
Have a word with them at the college and you might need references from your old teachers and old school reports to say that are a smart guy but you just missed a lot of school.

apply for the a levels and cant you resit the gcse's in the a level year. I know it sounds like a lot of stress but you dont want to have to redo a whole year. Gcse's are alot easier than A levels anyway.

first id advise you to talk to your teachers about it, but Id say choose your a levels, because if you dont get the grades you need I think you can change to a lower course or redo your maths/english exam a the same time. Probably shouldnt say this, but as long as youve got good gcses for english and maths, ive found that employers dont tend to look at the others as much (thats not telling anyone they shouldnt try to do as best as possible!). Good luck! :o)

Look at your predicted grades (ask your teachers) and they should give you a good indication. If you aren't going to get a C or higher in English, Maths and Science, I would advise that you should retake your GCSEs. Otherwise, you should be fine to do your A-Levels.

how well did you do in your gcse's , if you did ok then i would just carry on with your target , but if you did not so good maybe retake them !! but if your teacher has said to carry on i would apply for college an see how well you have done at end off your A levels to decide were you want to go ....!!!

i think you should apply to retake your gcses. theyre so important, especially maths english science. even if you pass your gcses that you have currently done, it is no harm in doing them again... and youll probably get better marks 2nd time around anyway! good luck!

you have to get a at least 4 Cs or a both to do A level.
so if you dont get that then maybe you will have to start from intermediate
or maybe even foundation if you get really low grades.
but you really should start revising becasue the higher GSCES you get. then the higher level you will do at college, the sooner you will finish learning and be earning your papers
