I have a sure fire way to win a costume party..if i rent a Henry the Eighth costume for $10 i can win a $50 prize but would this be cheating? the rules do not say anything about home made vs renting. These fellas at the racoon lodge always wear the same costumes every year..sheets..etc..

It's not cheating because most people do not make their own costumes, like rivers said.
But you have to consider if the judges might have seen the exact same costume last year, or at the same store, or at some other event.
I say, rent the costume, try to add some original accessories, and have fun.

Of course renting a costume isn't cheating, just consider it recycling! It's better for the environment as you won't be buying a costume only to throw it away after halloween. It's probably cheapter to rent a costume as well.

Most costumes are bought anyway. You should get a prize for renting and not having 100 costumes hanging in your closet!

No, it's not cheating...a costume is a costume no matter where you get it..unless they specified home-made, which you indicate that they do not.

It isn't cheating, but you aren't guaranteed a win either.

The judges may prefer to see homemade costumes.

Only if you already have a halloween costume.. then if you have you would be cheating on the one that you already have..

NOOO, As long as you dress up and enjoy it that is all that matters, i love it, i get to take my little girl out, and it is so much fun, even though i don't know what she is going to be this year. . . Well good luck!

You mustn't care!
How the hell would they find out!
If you're the sort of person who is pure-hearted, then the only thing that is stopping you is yourself!
Other then that... What the heck!
