The only pitcher worth getting in the 3rd round or higher is Santana. Oswalt and Carpenter could be drafted in the fourth. I wouldn't take halladay, he's injured a lot. I personally wouldn't pick a pitcher before the fifth round unless it's one of those guys. If you think about it, drafting a pitcher really early could screw you over if he has an injury. Whereas you stick with hitting in the first few round you have the chance to build up your offense. Besides there are always good pitchers around until the 10th round that are good pick ups. Just go with your gut feeling.

Pitching is half of the game. Most people draft hitters right out of the box so it depends on what draft position you have. I would take a pitcher in the late first round or early in the second if I were drafting late and could get one of the top two or three pitchers. If everyone is drafting hitters and you think you can lock up the best pitchers, get them. You can win a league with great pitching and some decent hitting.

With a lack of good pitchers in the MLB right now, the first round. You can get by with position players in later rounds. I recently won my fantasy baseball last year and I drafted three Ace pitchers in the first three rounds. So, I would get an Ace starter in the 1st, then a Top posiiton player in the 2nd and a Ace closer in the 3rd. The rest is up to you.

I usually don't draft a pitcher till at least the 4th round. Most people do the same strategy so there still will be some great pitchers available.

Depending on your league format (Rotiseriee or head to head) determines your draft. 2nd or 3rd round get a decent starter. If your head to head get more offense first. If Rotissiere, my philosophy is stock up on good middle relievers. This will win you ERA, BB/Inn and other categories that aren't looked at.
