I'm 16 weeks pregnant now and we started referring to the baby as "baby sister Coco" several months ago. My 3-year-old loves using this name for her sibling-to-be. We are growing attached to it... but also are wondering if the name is cute, or too silly to consider as the baby's real name. I know Courtney Cox and David Arquette have a Coco... and I've heard of others, too. Just wanted to get the public's input. What do you think of the name?

BTW, we already know it's a girl from an early CVS test.

I think Coco is awesome for a nickname. My cousin's name is Nicole and her dad nicknamed her Coco and it has just stuck with her. It's the perfect name for her personality, but at the same time if she ever had to answer the question "What's your name?" she could always answer Nicole without being laughed at. It turned into being a very special nickname and since that is how you refer to her I would find some way to keep it.

DONT name her coco, name her Nicole, Coco is short for Nicole. Its an adorable name for a kid, but when she grows up, around age 25 or so, it will be a little silly. If you name her Nicole, and nickname her Coco, she'll think its an adorable name, and be able to switch to Nicole whenever she feels she needs too. Thats a really cute name though, definetly go with it AS A NICKNAME. If you really need to use coco for the given name, at least give her a more serious middle nam so she can go by that when she's older, but i no a nicole that everyone calls her coco and i always liked her name. good luck!

I think taht it would be a great middle name and you can call her that but when she gets into the real world as an adult on business interviews hi my name is jessic and your n ame is Coco it just doesnt seem right. But it is your child and whatever you feel works for you and you like then you should do that. Good Luck what is your 3 year olds name?

I think Coco is adorable as a nickname. However, as a given name I'm not fond of it. It makes me think of hot cocoa. I'd look for a name that you give the nickname to like a name with a hard "c". I think Chole is cute on it's own and would lend itself easily to the Coco.

Here are some more:

Camille
Collette
Connie (Constance)
Charlene
Charlotte
Chelsea

We're in the same boat! We got stuck on Nico (knee-co) an Italian nickname for Nicholas and decided to just use the full name...instead of the nickname. I think Nicholas looks better on a resume too.

I'd name her something like Colleen or Collette, and call her Coco. That cute little baby is going to be looking for a job some day and isn't going to want to write Coco on a resume!

coco chanell was a very famous fashion designer, there's a perfume named after her.
But aside from that, it is more of a pet name than a human name.
I suggest you to pick some neutral, feminine first name for your baby and make Coco her middle name. Then if she doesn't like coco, she can still introduce herself with her first name when she's old enough.

Coco is cute, but I agree with many people that it kinda reminds me of a dog. If your famous, it apparently doesn't matter what you name your kid. In the real world, you need to make sure that it is not something that is going to haunt them for the rest of their lives. (I know--I HATE my name!) Ultimately-- its your child, name it what you want.

A friend named her son DaKota. He is 2 and we call him coco, as a cute nickname. I'm sure we'll have to give that up soon, or we will give him a complex. I think DaKota for a girl with the nickname Coco would be cute!

i think its cute, but be prepared if it's a boy too.

COCO
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Various

Pronounced: KO-ko [key]

Pet form of names beginning with Co, influenced by the word cocoa. However, this was not the case for French fashion designer Coco Chanel (real name Gabrielle), whose nickname came from the name of a song she performed while working as a cabaret singer.

It's very cute but always keep in mind that the child will have to live with the name in a world where kids like to tease. Maybe Coco can be your nickname for her.

Celebrities can name their kids whatever they want because they live in a world far different than ours.

I find it a little strange for a baby's real name( I think coco I think good for a dog) You also have to think about what other children will think....and trust me they can be mean. I just think that a child named Coco will more than likely be picked on.
