MONEY - THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR! And not All Americans are like that, but I agree with the asker.

There is a cancer of selfishness, coldness, sarcasm, racism and a plethora of other negative -isms, that is most evident the deeper you go into the heart of americana. It will not be as evident in a cosmopolitan city like New York. I mistakingly moved into a small town 3 years ago and have seen this cancer first hand. It scares me. The people around here don't really like anyone who exercises their first amendment rights. I get the "We don't do things like that 'round here" speech. Scary stuff. And before anybody wants to rebuke what I have said. I am a caucasian american male. I am different to most of the people in my town in that I have travelled the country and the world. ~ the best educator is travel.

Wow, that is a broad brush you are stroking to say Americans act in one manner over another. We are a relatively large country with 300 million people of vast backgrounds.

The Northeast portion of the United States for the most part is fast paced and highly populated. Living in this part of the country we multi task everything in our lives and need to do things quickly and efficiently. This can come off rude and abrupt at times, but I have also found people to be genuinely caring and courteous.

You need to give some personal examples of why you feel all Americans are like this.

My father says that Americans are descendants of outcasts living in a stolen land. I think that most of hatred addressed to Americans all over the world is caused by American feeling of superiority of the satiated over the hungry, belief that richer means wiser and better. And unsuccessful hiding of the business interests behind the ideology.

Life, and all the changes that have taken place over the decades... When everything became so complicated, there are diseases for everything, perverts came out of the woodwork.. Maybe it's the media attention everything gets, but you just have to harden your heart to survive these stressful days!!!!

Selfishness is a human trait as we have individual thought. Sarcasm is either used as humor or in defense. And, I don't think Americans are that cold. There are other nations much colder.
