I have an almost 10 month old and he has been cruising for a couple of months. Last night he started standing up, from a sitting position, in the middle of the floor and taking a couple of steps. He did this several times. He also will let go and cruise form one piece of furniture to the next or to me(taking a few unaided steps). In everyone's experience, how long did it take for this behavior to translate in to walking? Thanks! I am not trying to compare, just want to know what others' have experienced?

My son is 10 months.

He's been cruising ever since he was 8 months. At 9 months, he began to take steps. He was up to about 8 "unaided" steps when all of a sudden he went back to crawling. I guess he figured out that crawling is much quicker & takes less effort. He's still cruising but won't let go and walk like he used to. Hopefully, he'll walk soon:)

Every baby is different. Your baby seems like he'll have it very soon. It's hard to say exactly when. Babies have a mind of their own:)

Isn't it very exciting to see your baby walk??!!

My ds is 3 now. When he cruised for a month-ish, then it seemed almost overnight he was walking. Now I sometimes miss the lack of mobility. As with everything, it seems to take a while when we are expeirencing it. Then in hind-sight, it really wasn't that long. Enjoy

He should be walking very soon. As soon as they realize what they can do, it seems to happen very quickly.
