3 players. player one has 100 chips, player 2 has 200 chips, player 3 has 1000 chips. player one goes all in player 2 goes all in and player 3 goes all in. player 3 wins the hand and the tournment, how do we determine who comes second and wins the second prize.

The second place would be given to the player with the second best hand.

The second player would get the prize because he had more chips than player one at the beginning of the hand. It is NOT the person with the next best hand unless you are having a home game and state that rule before you begin playing.

In a tournament, if two players are both eliminated on the same hand, the higher prize is usually given to the player that had the higher chip stack before the hand.

The person with the most chips gets the better postion regardless of his hand so player 2 would get second place.
