The economy is doing great for the top ten percent money earners in the country. Neo-cons don't care about the other 90% even though they are part of it. Neo-cons brag about Bush tax cuts. When I ask how much did their take home pay increase, they get quite.

It would seem according to the article we've been on a downward swing for the last 32 yrs and we'll have to work on getting it back up. What the news is saying that we are doing better than we've been doing, it isn't saying we don't have any kind of economy problems. Gee. Guess our yrs with the Clintons booming economy didn't do much for the country after all.

I for one, have never claimed that the economy is even acceptable. I think it is shameful, and I have felt this for a long time. But, the problem cannot be solve without a change of attitude, by the majority of the people. If more people would read Neale Donald Walsch's books, they would see that there are easy solutions to this and most other problems. It just requires a spiritual awareness that we are all one, and that there is enough to grow around, and that everyone is worthy and everyone matters, no matter what. With these changes in attitude, and spiritual awareness, the evil and greed and selfishness in this world, may not completely disappear, but it would be greatly diminished.!!!!

The answer is there is no explaining it because the economy isn't great. Housing starts are declining, our trade deficit is upwards of 50 billion, and many factory workers are losing their jobs to people in foreign countries that don't have the same kind of wage policies we do. If you think that the economy is doing great, you are either a large corporation owner that is having their pockets lined by sending American jobs overseas, or you are just not informed of the facts.

My only answer to the article in question would be that we as Americans have a skewed idea of poverty. Any person in America deemed to be in poverty would be considered a king in the majority of countries around the world. Secondly, the US economy isn't great, but the Unemployment rate is low and the stock market is generally up. Compare the umemployment rate in the US to countries like France and Germany and you'll see we really have nothing to complain about.

Easy:

"Among the hard hit is John Treece, 60, who is plagued by arthritis, back problems and myriad ailments from years of manual labor. Treece, who lives near the Capitol in Washington, has been unable to work full time for 15 years and has tried unsuccessfully to get benefits from the Social Security Administration.

Treece lives hand-to-mouth in a $450-a-month room in a non-descript boarding house in a high-crime neighborhood. Thanks to food stamps, the food pantry and help from relatives, Treece said he never goes hungry. But toothpaste, soap, toilet paper and other items that require cash are tougher to come by."

This is the example they give. The man's a moocher. He claims non-descript ailments. Hasn't worked full-time since he was 45. Doesn't bathe or brush his teeth. The man's got to help himself! Get a bath, get a job. Join the Mexicans mowing grass! They have no problem finding manual labor jobs. Am I really supposed to feel sorry for this guy?

The definition of poor in this country is so skewed. How many Americans would be considered poor in any other country? Not too many. These people who are considered poor have electricity, and probably some other basics of life. How many people in Central America don't even have what America's "poor" have?

Again, no perspective from the liberal side of the political spectrum.

Poor people can get jobs. Old people should be taken care of by their families. People who can not work have welfare and social security. People need to take responsibility for their own lives and destinies. The economy is doing great for me and everybody I know. People who are unhappy in their situations have the power to change. But they would rather have things handed to them.

16 million of them should go back to Mexico.
The rest were educated in the liberal public school system and given the option to quit at age 16.
