Breatmilk is good for 4hours at room temp, 24 hours in a cooler, 5-7 days in the fridge, 3-4 mos in a freezer, and 6-12 mos in a deep freeze. For some reason, previously frozen, thawed breatmilk is only good in the fridge for 24 hours and shouldn't be re-frozen.
I got this info from my lacation consultant, who has written here that Medela (a breastpump cpmpany) is her source.

If its for a healthy baby, and they haven't drank out of it yet:
If the room is 72 degrees or warmer- 4-6 hours
If the room is cooler than 72 degrees- 8 hours
If the baby has already drank out of it, you can only leave it out for 2 hours.

I've read you can leave it out for 10 hours, then another source says up to 8 hours, then another source says...better way to answer this question is to ask you a question because I have yet to read anything where it agrees with anything else.
How long would you leave milk out before you wouldn't drink it?

Breast milk can be left out for several hours. I have heard that it can be left out up to ten hours, but the warmer the room, the less time it can be left out. I never left mine out past a couple of hours though.

Pumped breast milk has been in contact with unsterile equipment. Therefore, it should be refrigerated promptly.
