Oh thank you so much for the opportunity to jump in on this one!
In one hour of TV watching, it started with a headache, moved to the chewing, so we need denture holder cream, then food cannot
digest in the stomach so we need gas, indigestion medicine,
then we get to the end problem, so we move to, cant go, or go too much. That doesn't matter because we have restless leg syndrome and can't sleep.
Good grief. How did we survive!
Then we can get into how we think or why we do not think. misbehavior. Seems each generation has their own set of what the "in" dx is. Prozac was a biggie, Valium, uppers and downers, it is a drug manufactures dream. and speaking of dreams there are Doctors to explain them to you.
Now I feel better, and did not even have to take one pill.
In all fairness I am sure a lot of these wonder drugs do help some people but yes, we have become drug and medicine dependent.

Oh heck yeah America is overmedicated. It's like no one wants to deal with their problems anymore -- if there's a pill for it they're marching down to their doctor to get a prescription. Drugs are seen as miracle cures that can take care of virtually everything from hair loss to erectile dysfunction to depression to feeling socially awkward to being overweight...the list goes on and on. While there are plenty of situations where prescription meds are needed and actually do some good, we have too many children on Ritalin and too many adults on antidepressants/anti-anxiety meds. And yes, the pharmaceutical companies are pushing a lot of new meds that don't serve any legitimate medical purpose other than "quality of life enhancement." Bad news all around...

Yes, yes and yes. I 100% agree with you, every day a new drug comes out promising to fix what ever "problem" you have. What really bothers me is the side effects of these drugs, come on now! OK, so this drug will help your heart, but it will also give you tremors, head aches, dizziness and diarrhea, BUT HEY It's helping your heart right?? Also, we have become way to dependent on drugs, you can go to any average American house hold and are almost guaranteed to find a medicine cabinet full of prescription drugs. If one teeny tiny little thing is wrong, we run to the Dr. for a new drug. Give it a rest people, chances are in the long run they are more likely killing you then helping you, problem is we are to drugged up to realize that.

Oh, absolutely! There is a drug for everything. The problem is, most drugs don't cure, they just cover up, or regulate. And then that same drug causes a problem in another area, and guess what? You need another drug to cover that problem...and it goes on and on. Then you get all these drugs that react against each other. Doctors in general don't monitor drugs that they put you on enough. The pharmacist actually knows more about drugs and how the act, react, and work for or against each other than a doctor does.

Yes! And have you noticed certain times of day, the pharmaceuticals are being pushed harder? Like, the blood pressure and alzheimer's meds are being pushed during the early evening news, when the Baby Boomers tend to watch more TV.
Our society has given up trying. Got a problem? Get a pill for it.

Lets just say, it appears to be the same everywhere in the western world.......Drug companies get richer, Doctors also along with darker suntans from all the free holidays and unhealthier with all the freebie conferencing foods that are given to them and their families........I also have to say, the citizens that want these medications have too much imformation available to them on the internet in order to come up with "ailments" so they can get these drugs prescribed...and of course, we cant forget the good old....GST...and governments getting Xtra monies for all of the above.....(and they say, " if its legal for the government, then its...legal )................sux.
