Well.... Actually, My friends donot listen to English music how much ever I pester them.

And I have been kinda teased rite here in yahoo answers. I asked people to recommend me some songs and I had given a list of artists I liked and one person was rude about my favorite artists :((

Well I igonored it I suppose.I mean just because that person was rude about my favorite doesn't mean I'll hate them too, right ?

I fact I like them even more :)

Cheers

Musical tastes are a personal issue. My experience is that nobody ever likes ALL of the same music that I like.

My exwife and I both loved Led Zeppelin. I introduced her to Metallica and she loved the song Unforgiven. The CD that gets the most play time from me is probably Great White's Greatest Hits.

Unfortunately, hidden deep in my closet, and covered up by several books and old blankets, lies The Partridge Family's Greatest Hits. Now, I'm very fit. I lift weights, run 3 miles a day and have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I fear no man; but I have yet to find the courage to place The Partridge Family's Greatest Hits in my living room CD rack where others are sure to see it. My favorite Partridge Family song is It's One of Those Nights. Hey! Stop laughing, damn-it! I know. I can't explain it either.

there have been and still are people whp criticize what I listen to. How did it effect me? It didn't bother me at all. I would just smile and have it on when they came around. My favorite music is country people tell me it is depressing music. The ones who criticzed me ten yrs. ago listen to it all the time now, the ones who crititcized me two yrs. ago listen to it all the time now. So I pretty much know the ones who ccriticize me now will be listening to it all the time soon. So while they make fun I laugh. Ha! Ha!

You can't help which music you like and how it makes you feel. We all have different tastes. I used to get a lot of criticism for loving the Smashing Pumpkins, but that didn't stop me from standing ground. Loved them then, love them today.

Sure ... personal taste is very subjective. You like what you like and it's not necessarily what someone else likes. If someone else criticizes your musical taste, chances are pretty good, you'd dislike what they think you should be listening to!

Who cares what others think is good. Keep listening to your stuff and ignore the critics!!

People have criticized me for what I listen to.

I didn't like it at first, but I found a way to make them feel that way.

When they'd start teasing me, I'd ask what they listened to, and most of them were the Britney fans. I'd start teasing them for listening to her and they'd leave me alone.

I'm a hardcore 70's and 80's rock fan, and most of the people at my school are into the pop and rap scenes, and I hate that stuff.

Yes. My cousins don't like the same music genre as I do (they like R 'n B and I love rock), my dad loves jazz and my mom loves Christian songs. They're all mad when I play my rock music.

First time, I felt really bad and tried to reduce the sound. But now I'm getting used to it and if they say anything bad, I'll play it louder and louder! Lol.

It's their problem if they didn't like my music =p It's not like someone's forcing them to listen to it. If they hate it, they may cover their ears and sing as loud as they want!
Why do you think there are a billion different types and bands of music? Perhaps.. Becuase.. Not everyone has the same taste?

I used to get criticized when I was young for listening to Christian Music and now I still struggle with issues with it for instance I feel that people judge me when I listen to it, like I'm either some christian goody goody or that I'm trying to make up for my sins.

My friend was going through my playlist, and he freaked out when he saw Lindsay Lohan or Shakira's music in it (not that they are bad or anything)...

I guess it's the person that is critisizing ends up critisizing him or herself, coz other people might like your selection...
All what I'm saying is, just keeping on tasting your own music flavour and ignore other people's critisizm coz it's their loss they don't like that type of music!
