Ratios. Not understanding.. stuck?

I need to work out x using ratios

height = 16cm shoe length=3cm

Actual height = 190cm Actual shoe length=x

how do i work out x?

16/3 = 190/x

16x = 3(190)

16x = 570

16x/16 = 570/16

x = 570/16

x = 35/625

= Actual height: Photo height
orx/3=190/16
Hence x =190*3/16
=35.625 cm

Sometimes you can just divide the big number by the small number. That works for the first 2. 750/250 = 3, so the ratio is 3:1. 2200/550 = 4 so the ratio is 4:1. If you do that with the third one, you get 2.5:1, but I'm guessing you need whole numbers, so what you need to do is find the largest number that both numbers can be divided by. In this case it's 1000. 5000/1000 = 5 and 2000/1000 = 2, therefore the ratio is 5:2.

16/190 = 3/x

cross multiply:

16x = 190(3)
16x = 570
x = 570/16 = 35.625 cm

first u multiply 16 with x and 3 with 190
so the equation becomes somewhat like this
16x=3*190
16x=570
divide both sides by 16
x=570/16

You are just scaling something up, so you have both heights so we use those-:

Ratio of height = 190 / 16 = 11.875

This means the shoe size on he big version will be 11.875 times bigger.

Therefore-: 3cm x 11.875 = 35.625cm (Actual Shoe Length)
