No Dawn French Is not French or English she is Welsh born in Holyhead Wales and Arthur English is English Born in Aldershot Hampshire would't be strange if we all had the surname of the place we were born but I would have thought in real life Dawn is Dawn Henry because she is married to Lenny Henry and before you ask no Dawn is Dawn and not henry

Dawn French is a british comedian / actor.

The boy's name Arthur \a-rthur, ar-thur\ is pronounced AR-ther. It is of Celtic origin. King Arthur of Britain (sixth century) and his Round Table of knights have become legendary figures. His name was first found in the Latinized form Artorius, which is of obscure origin. Other possible sources include "artos", the Celtic word for "bear"; an Irish Gaelic word meaning "stone"; Arnthor, an Old German name meaning "Thor, the eagle". Often used in the Middle Ages, but uncommon until the early 19th century, when Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, vanquished Napoleon.

The girl's name Dawn \da-wn\ is pronounced dornn. It is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "the first appearance of light, daybreak". Modern use of the word for a name. The Latin term Aurora dates back about 1500 years, but Dawn first appeared in the late 1920s. Opera singer Dawn Upshaw; comedian Dawn French; basketball player Dawn Staley.

I presume so as the famous King Arthur (and his round table) was actually a celtic tribal leader (despite the myths), so it is definately British at any rate.
