have had both...love dogs but you need the time to take them for long walks.
Now have cats and they are just as loving as dogs but they are easier to take proper care of.

Choosing between a dog and a cat can be difficult. In a nutshell, dogs require more time, attention and money, but as pack animals are often much more social than cats. On the other hand, cats, being more independent, are easier to care for, much neater and usually cost less.

All pets require love, attention, play time, some grooming and regular veterinary visits. How much differs between a dog and a cat. The choice comes down to what you want out of a pet and how much energy you are prepared to devote.

Where you live also plays a big role in the decision – or even makes the decision for you. Some apartments or condos have restrictions on the size or type of pet you can have. If your building doesn't permit dogs, don't break the rules and get one. The worst thing to do is to adopt a loving puppy, and then return him to the shelter.

Myself had a cat and a dog, and they can get along with each other well. When my cat is in a "good mood", will play with my dog, and my dog can 'sense' my cat in "bad mood" and will not 'dare' to distube. So there is still peace in my home.

Depends, dogs are a big committment but give so much love, and taking them for walks is great exercise but you do have to do it everyday rain or shine, also you shouldn't be shutting a dog up all day so if you work full time its not very good for a dog. Cats are easy and tend to look after themselves and don't mind sleeping in peace all day while you are at work, they also give you loads af attention when you come home.

I have had both, but at the moment I just have my dog. I get up at 6am every morning in the dark (as I work in the morning) and walk her. Its really hard when its pouring with rain but once I'm out I love it, I get lots of exercise as well which always makes me feel good afterwards really sets me up for the day.

dogs are a whole lot better. I say that because most of the time when you call a cat they dont come but when u call a dog they come. Also dogs are more fun because they play with you and have fun with you unlike cats, there lazy and unpredictable! Honestly i really dislike cats and cant stand them so i say DOGS ALL THE WAY!!!

Cats. They're more popular than dog now. They require less looking after and you don't have to take them for walks.

Dogs!! They are loyal. CATS can be a bit unpredictable and devious, although they have their own characters, I like the innocence of a Dog!
So yup, Dogs win it for me!

Both are good for companionship but I'd have to go for Dogs overall because a bi-product of taking dogs out for walks is burning some fat - therefore you can allow yourself that extra bar of chocolate!
