By What you said, I am assuming when you say "the company said they would look after it" you were actually meaning the company from where the truck comes from. Basically you have made some calls and got quotes for the repairs. The company probably use there own coach-works for engine and bodywork repairs. chances are they would get the work done on the cheap. As its an inconvenience to you as with when i had an accident in my own car they should pick your car up and provide a courtesy car.
This I'm sure helps you out with getting around but If you haven't spoken to your own insurance company and you are really bothered that these people wont use the garage from where you got the quote from, I would suggest you ring up your insurance company telling them all that has happened from the accident to them saying they want to take your car to there garage. if you have only made the one claim it shouldn't affect your premium. they will sort everything from there as it would all be done on the truck company insurance

You have a right to get your vehicle fixed at what ever shop you choose. The catch is that insurance companies shop around and keep records on who does the best work at the lowest cost. The insurance companies will allow you to use your shop, but if its not one of their recommended shops they will not guarantee the work if there are issues. This is a big problem and I'll explain why. I accidentally clipped a concrete light pole base in a parking lot that had no light on it, no cones around it and it was raining like dogs and cats so I didn't see it. I wanted to take it to my dealers shop for two reasons. I trusted a Honda shop to use genuine Honda parts, and they have the Honda trained workers there. The insurance company wanted me to use the Chevrolet shop down the road. Why, because they would use aftermarket parts which are cheaper, but the work was deemed of high quality by their reviewers. So thats the catch 22, original genuine parts and who knows what work quality, or cheap knock off parts and decent quality work. It ened up that I got my genuine Honda parts, but the paint job was horrid. The shop found no problems with the job, but I did, they did not clean the paint good enough before applying clear coat and on sunny days it looked like someone forgot to clean of some wax. They refused to fix the problem because I didn't catch it for several months. The Chevy shop would have been required by the insurance company to do it over to my liking. Bottom line though is you always decide.

The insurance company will try to take it to one of their own approved repairers but you ultimately have the final choice
If you have a good repairer that you trust or have heard negative remarks regards the approved repairer then you can insist that the car repair is carried out at a garage of your own choice
The cost will have to be competetive to that of the approved but your final choice never the less

They can not tell you what garage to use. They might suggest one,but in the end you have the right to take your vehicle to who ever you want. The insurance company of the offending driver may say we will only pay for work done at a specific place, but that's a bluff. If it gets to the point of them saying either our way or no way, consult an attorney.

Well, this isn't going to be what you want to hear...but, insurance companies want to get quality repairs at the lowest cost too...
Your inconvenience is already in place, since the truck backed into you. You may get quotes from anywhere, but they have to "approve" where you go.

While most insurance companies have a list of shops that are "certified" by the insurance companies, you are free to choose the shop you want to use to make the repair. Do not let them bully you into going somewhere you don't want to go.

You can pick anyone you want (they are trying to avoid insurance problems). If they say you have to go to theirs then tell them you will report the accident to the police and explain the problem and the fact that they will not stand up to their end of the bargain.
This happened to me once and I had to threaten to sue, his wife was screaming at me and he threw her out of the office - I told him I was going to get 3 estimates and go for the best until I got yelled at for parking 3 car lengths behind their truck - now I was going to the dealership (he said he understood)(boy I bet there was a fight that night)

If you are using your own comprehensive insurance, you can decide the body shop, but your insurers must agree. If you are claiming on other party you can get it fixed at YOUR convenience, and they have to pay all REASONABLE costs, that is to say don't expect to use a Rolls Royce dealer (unless it's a RR)

you can decide where it goes just phone up your insurance and let them know u think you have to get 3 prices on them and then they settel the bill with them
that is what i done when i had a crash and it was not my fault
unless they are going to pay then you just ask for a invoice and let them see it or if they want to do it you get the garage to send you a invoice so you know its done
