No it doesn't. I got accepted to medical school after going to
UW-Milwaukee. Yes, you do need to get good grades and have a good MCAT. But all the thousands of other applicants have good grades and a good MCAT. What the admissions committees are looking for is leadership ability, maturity, and an overall well-rounded individual.

It certainly helps, as does good grades and getting a high MCAT score.

You are more likely to get accepted to Harvard Medical School coming from UPenn than you would from Arizona State if all else is equal.

Yes, because if you go to medical school then you'll need to know as much as possible. If you go to a good college you'll learn more things. And some people only look at the school you go to. Like when my dad was young (when he just started working) one of his first jobs were to approve and reject resumes submitted to his office. Since there was so many his boss told him only approve the ones who went to ADMU, DLSU,etc. Those two schools are known to be very good grade schools, high schools and colleges.

For mediacl school a good school is nesicarry .... i wouldn't want a doctor who went to a state school, i mean you get your doctorate it will HAVE to be from a private school but most doctors have their degrees hanging in their offices and I presonally think it looks better. It also makes you more marketable to hospitals, more likely to get a higher pay, and you get more personal attention if you go to a small school.
I want to go to school for pre-med and then neurology and my bf is constantly making fun of me for wanting to go to a private school for my pre-med stuff but i know it will pay off in the end.
Also, most private schools charge per term so you can take extra classes with out additional costs, and while the same is true at some state schools most charge per class meaning you can't graduate early and can't double major without having a hard time.
Ultematly though as long as you go to a private school most employers will see your education as higher. Basically as long as it doesn't say state school or onlineschool.com your employer will not care, NYU is a really good school but very selective. I would get my Bachelors in a small private school and then go on to a big well known school for my doctorate.

Most employers just want you to have the degree and they don't really care where it came from, unless you are after the top 10% of positions.
