There are some American universities which offer some courses in some majors as online courses. But stay away from the "for-profit" online schools. They are not respected.

For a good view of the situation with online schools, there was a very good article in the New York Times for Sunday Feb 11, 2007 that described the situation at the University of Phoenix, the largest and best know online school. You DEFINITELY need to read this article before sending ONE CENT to any online school.

It depends on what you are looking for. Each university is different and best for each individual person. Think about what your criteria for "best" is. Is it flexible or set deadlines for projects? Do you like having stiff rules for posting on the message boards-responses and answers? Can you get done in the allotted time you want? What school will take longer? Research, ask people who have done online universities. Ask a local college or university.

Look online for Strayer University. It's an online accredited university for working adults.
