Unfortunately, yes, we are becoming more and more like Europe, and that is definitely not a good thing. While a lot of people claim to be religious, it is a watered down religion and they are sadly not as devout as they were before. Gay marriage being pushed in the US is a clear example of European influence.

Americans are definately not becoming more philosophical. That would require actual rational thought processes (and less random litigation). And no, I don't believe that European thought patterns are "invading" the U.S. The last time I checked, Americans were still allowed the freedom to think and believe any way that they choose, although that may change if the religious nuts have their way.

Americans are not becoming less religious never - instead they more hypocrite and obnoxious.
European thought pattern will never invade the US - instead all those narrow, snob, stuck up, unhappy and shallow American cultures invade all over the world and someone really has to stop it if we want to make the world a better place with happiness.

You must be talking about South America. In The USA, God told our President that he should run and the people elected him partly because of this religious beliefs. So maybe you mean a different America.

Perhaps we are becoming less religious. Maybe more people are meeting in the middle with a common spirituality. Religion segregates; spiritualism integrates. It's a good thing.

I would say less religious AND less philosphic. Deep thinking is not encouraged in our culture. A lot of people are content to have their opinions and beliefs fed to them via movies, TV, music, etc. So much easier that way.

Currently I'd say Americans are trending towards being more religious and less philosophic.

Look at the gay marriage referendums.

Did you read any news in the last 7 years? Do you know what was elected there two times in arow? Something called Bush. Don't you know about Christian fundamentalists who are trying to brainwash kids with "intelligent design," a belief saying that "if we can't understand it, it must be god," just like those apes in front of a tree lit by a lightning, 30 000 years ago. But now Denmark and even American hos and beyatches, the Brits, are coming to their senses and turning their backs on the US - a good sign for them.

Have you seen America? It's less religious, less philosophic and more concerned than ever with American Idol and celebrity death media circuses.
