Personal Assistants are the gofers for rich famous people - they take the laundry to the cleaners, walk the dog, get the crystal meth and oxycontin from the drug dealer, make sure the wife, the mistress and the boyfriend never run into each other, stand guard while the celebrity cuts the bathroom line at a nightclub, go get the movie tickets, make sure the car gets washed, get the mail, answer the famous person's phone, hire the prostitutes, make the restaurant reservations, book the trip to St Barts, rent the ski gear when the celeb goes to Aspen or Park City, arrainge for the famous person to get free stuff from consumer products companies looking for free publicity, ect ect ect. - basically they are an errand runner.

It can be a 24 hour a day job, with no time for a life of your own and minimal time for you to sleep, eat or even go to the bathroom while your working - their enjoying a leisurely 3 course meal in a five star restaurant, while you're sitting out in the front seat of the limo all evening with an empty stomach and a full bladder, hoping you can get 5 minutes to run to Starbucks to pee and get a coffee and a muffin before you have to run along behind the famous person to their next destination.

But, by the time you've gotten off their phone with the manager of the club they want to get in for free and you are just hopping out of the car to take a long delayed bathroom break and get a bite to eat, they're leaving the restaurant and they want to go to the club NOW (your neglected physical needs be damned). So you ignore your rumbling stomach and full bladder and take care of their whims.

A lot of famous people aren't very nice either - they can be very rude and inconsiderate to "the help" and they'll be quick to scream on you over dumb stuff like you made their sandwich with mayo instead of mustard! They basically think of you as a piece of furniture (except they treat their furniure a lot better)

It doesn't always pay that well either - but it can get you in on the ground floor in the entertainment business. If you have low self esteem and a high toleration for abuse by insecure jerks who are very rich and petty, they it's a good job for you.

They do their bosses dirty work (setup appointments, pick up stuff, be a go between).

I am not sure what they get paid, but I can only hope that it is alot.

It really depends on 2 things: who the employer is and how much experience you have.
