I am 38 weeks pregnant, and I was having contractions 2-3 minutes apart for the whole night and most of the day yesterday. We went to the doctor at 6am, and he was having me walk, rocking on the "birthing ball" and drinking water to try to get her head down. (I am 2cm, and 80%) He was ready to go ahead and break my water, since the contractions were so strong and so close. When he came to check me at about Noon, I STILL had not dialated nor had her head come down noticably lower. They sent me home, and said I'll probably be back this weekend. I am going stir-crazy now! I was so close, and now, I have to wait, and he will not induce my labor, after I had repeatedly asked him. So am I just to sit through these contractions for another 2 weeks? Or is there something I can do? (sex- we tried, just made me nauseated) and walking, I've been walking non-stop since yesterday...this is the first time I sat down. As I was walking, I started to feel A LOT of pelvic pressure, but still no show.

They were pretty painful contractions...at the hospital I could barely talk through some.
*I live on an Air force Base, and my husband and I are going to the gym today...they have an indoor pool...I'll have to try that! Plus, do you thing the tredmill or stair stepper will help?

It's a girl! My first pregnancy too, obviously.
I know, I asked my doctor what the heck I have have to look for now, and he said if my water breaks (duh) and/or bloody show.

If this is your first the labor is usually longer. Not in all cases, but usually. With my first, I too was sent home under similar circumstances. After 3 days of on and off hard contractions, I FINALLY gave birth. Yes, the treadmill and stairstepper are great ideas.
Sex in not recommended in the last month of pregnancy, since you are already dilated it could introduce an infection. You Dr. should have told you this.

If you are feeling pressure you need to be seen again. I wouldnt do the swimming, ive known a woman who went to swim after being in a similar situation as you, and her water broke in the pool. But she didnt notice it at all. So when they got home she was in complete labor, When your water breaks and you are swimming or taking a bath, it can cause infection because all that water is getting to the baby. So i dont know that i would swim. You will be having your baby very soon. You should head to labor and delivery today and tell them you are having pressure and have them check you. You might have progressed more than you know :) I went in with my last son and here i was dialated to 7 lol. Its strange how labor works :)

I had contractions every 2 minutes for at least a week before the baby was born. How do they feel? Mine weren't really "painful" but more I felt my abdomen harden and toward the end I had to stop what I was doing. I went to the hospital and they monitored me but sent me home. I will say that when you are really ready to deliver the contractions will feel different, they will hurt! For me my water broke then the contractions really started to get painful.
Either way, it's good your doctor didn't induce you, if you don't dilate then you may end up getting a c-section. You have time. Remember to get plenty of rest, the baby will come when he/she is ready and not before then.

Oh, don't worry. I am 37 weeks pregnant and I am huge. I know how you feel. But please don't ask to be induced if you are not past 40 weeks. I got induced with my first child at 41 weeks. They used this drug called pitocyn with makes the contractions twice as painful and powerful, but still that's no guarantee that your baby will be born vaginally. After 17 of labor and 2 hours of pushing, I still had to have a c-section. So, please be patient, you are only a few days away or maybe even hours. Hang in there and God bless. When you have your baby in your arms, all will be forgotten. I promise!!!

you HAVE to go swimming this will bring baby down and start labor find a YMCA or other indoor pool (community center gym etc. And get a day pass. It will feel great while you are swimming and then when you get out it will help the baby drop. I really have no idea why It just works:) Starting labor IE sex walking etc is not going to help with the dropping part. Gravity has to do that.

SQUAT!!! Got me so dialated even without any contractions, when walking, stand every few minutes, etc. I dont know what he wants you to do, how will you know when it's really time then?? Well good luck and if you feel like the baby is coming - contractions get more painful - dont hesitate just go to the hospital!!!

well try going for a swim, it will help relieve the pain and bring the baby down, walk around in the water too, and even tho it made you feel sick, keep having sex, the sperm actually does help you dilate. Are you having a boy by any chance? (lol)
