Do I have to show them my details or are they just being nosey?

What happens to my claim if I just ignore the request?

I do not normally have to provide this information to the Tax Inspector.

Yes,I'm afraid you do have to show them.I have just been helping my son sort out his housing benefit. He had to provide his last 2 bank statements. He couldn't find them and sent the form back without them. His claim was rejected for not providing the right information,we had to get the bank to issue us with back statements. It delayed the whole process by weeks! I did suggest to the housing officer that perhaps we could examine his bank statement as he was having a good nosey at ours, not a favourable response! Don't waste your time trying to outsmart them, they are humourless morons that can't think unless a computer does it for them. Good luck.

Immigration schemes are much more complex than the "bus stop conversation" answer. Normally Governments do not cater for the interests of anybody, not only of their own citizens, therefore in allowing immigration flows there are a number of benefits for the Governments and maybe in the long run also for the citizens. I understand the frustration but please keep in mind that immigration has always happened since the very beginning of the human race. In England, for example, the Anglo-Saxons, were tribes who came from Germany in the 5th century. Before there were the Romans, followed by a multitude of different people from all the possible races. We think at the NHS and the Council Houses and benefits, but remember that each of this immigrant will spend that money in UK services and goods that will help the economy. Also, each service and good carries with it VAT and other taxes that go back to the Government somehow. Finally, it is more expensive a day of war than 1,000 immigrants per year. The current UK government is a quite valid government in a VERY difficult time, however, I would suggest to contact your local MP to get more adequate clarifications.

Hi

The council need some proof of earnings and this should be shoen on your bank statements. It is also a form of identity which the council need to show you are the rightful claimee. Also, if you ignore the request then the council should contact you again to ask for the information and if you ignore them a second time they will cancel your claim and you will be liable for the whole rent. Go on, let the council see them!!

Good luck

Dean

I disagree with answers that you have had so far. If you answer on the form that they give you that you have no bank account then they have no right whatsoever to to go searching for bank statements.

You need to show them your bank statements to prove your income and also to show you don't have loads in the bank.

If you don't supply them with it they won't pay the claim.
