would the English Military send Prince Harry to Iraq when they themselves are bringing their troops back home....(on our TV the media has said that Tony Blair is reducing their number of troops in Iraq by drastic numbers and shortly all troops will be back on home soil....So, why send Prince Harry there, who is second in line to the throne)????

This is because, for some reason, he wants to go there. But let us pray that nothing happens to him, and that soon he will come home safely.

I was asking the same question yesterday when my dad said that the decision to send prince harry to iraq was probably long on the cards as most royals have to do some kind of military service. i guess it just came at the wrong time. by the way harry is third in line to the throne after his father, charles and brother william.

I know it sounds crazy, but I think they are doing it for "publicity" to try to "sell" us the idea of Iraq's invasion. I mean all the media is going to be focus on that (How can a Prince would go to war?) forgetting all the people dying in there and all human rights that are being violated. "Prince Harry in Iraq" is going to be on the headlines of every single newspaper in the world, distracting the attention from the real news, from the real people.

But do you really think is life would be risked? do you think they gonna send him with no protection like everyone else? I don't think so, what's more I think everything is just set up.

Besides it would be good for Harry to exchange the negative headlines in the newspapers and magazines about his partying habits for ones that show him like a brave, responsible young man, a good representative of the Brithis monarqui.
Well just my humble opinion.

Harry is following a long tradition of British princes serving in the forces. His uncle served as a helicopter pilot in the Falklands War. Numerous princes have served in battle, the future King George VI was in the Battle of Jutland. His father, King George V was a Royal Navy officer. Won't do him a bit of harm to see life as it really is.

Most Brits complain because the government forks over so much money to keep the Royals in that lifestyle. This is just payback and it shows that Royals can send their sons into battle just like the average commoner.
Combat experience will build character in Harry. And it will hone his leadership skills for the future.

He's THIRD in line, after Charles and Wills.

He's being sent there to show support for the allies. It would be more suprising and somewhat shameful if they didn't send Harry to do his duty, along with everyone else.

It is to show that members of the Royal family are not exempt from military service (regardless of where that service might be).

Prince Andrew served in the Grenada conflict.

They are doing that because most of the danger in their combat area is over, and the Prince needs "combat experience". As heir to the English Crown, it is important that he becomes experienced in combat.

Maybe Harry just wants to go.

it is better to send him to Iraq and have him play solitare in a bunker somewhere than to have the infamous british tabloids call him either a deserter or a coward.
