Retire??? what's retire???
oh you mean that thing where a person who collects Social Securty check every month.....well by the time i retire i don't think there will be any such check---and if there is i will still have to work the alloted hours in order to survive. (you know that cost of living thing and how it keeps rising and pay scale doesn't go along with it....)
even if one has enough money to retire from working a job there is alot of things to get involved in. find a hobby, join clubs, get involved with environmental groups, any organization that helps do good, travel and meet people, go back to college.
the purpose is to live, learn, and have fun. you remember fun don't you?

I think you will if you measure your life only by money/career achievements.
I'm coming up to retirement soon and hope to look back on a decent family raised-the boys doing well-good memories - but most important of all -a hell of a lot still to come.
There's always a purpose in life for as long as you're here.
It may not be a big one but that doesn't matter so long as you can find happiness in something-however insignificant it is as measured by today's standards..
And life can change-...what a difference a day makes?/

I am semi-retired and never think that at all. I remember my successes and failures and what I could have done differently but in the whole, I have found my life pleasing and rewarding with a good family, grandkids that love me and a very pleasant life up here in the north beside a lake in the country enjoying the beauty of it all.

I'm a baby-boomer and if I were to look back I'd only wish I would've done more to please my Savior - my only regret. But instead of wallowing in regrets, I'm using the time the Lord is giving me to help others to follow Him and enjoy the promises He gives us (which I have been doing for yrs!) Actually, Instead of looking back, I look FORWARD daily to my relationship with Christ, living my life fully with my familly and my Lord and especially to the day when we believers live in Heaven, in perfect love and peace with others and the Lord. My purpose is to Glorify God, what is yours?

Once in a while, but typically no. I usually find reasons that I'm here (our children, my partner, kindness to friends, etc.). Not to be pollyanna-ish or anything, its just how I'm built. I don't put a lot of conscious thought into it.
Good existential question - though. I hope you find a purpose !

I wouldn't think you want to get to retirement and question the meaning of your life. Might want to take care of those issues now.

confident, I agree, you have spectacular factors. This fabric existence is short-term. there is extra to the objective of existence than only looking after the physique, even nonetheless it rather is area of it. The physique is largely a motor vehicle for the real Self it rather is organic Divine Spirit it rather is One and same with the single time-honored God and no different. the objective is to attain your real Self - adventure that, no longer basically intellectually; and flow each and each of how residing house to God at existence's end and help different souls understand this too. the objective of the wave is to return to the sea of which it rather is an element of which it rather is from. the objective of the Soul is to return to the sea of God from which it has come and of which it rather is an element.
