I hope you do realise that was a really stupid and irresponsible thing to do! What did you think was going to happen??
Frankly you've caused him personal injury - and it was intended personal injury so its not like you can say it was an accident. So he probably does stand a very good chance at suing you. However its possible he can only sue you for the medical costs - you're lucky this isn't America. Good luck with it anyways but try and think about the consequences to your reactions next time and be a bit more responsible.

Seeing as the world has gone completely mad then yes, he may well do but you could argue he had no business putting his thieving mitts in there in the first place! It's your biscuit tin so if you feel like storing a mousetrap in there, it should be up to you!
But, if he's serious about suing (sp?!) then go to the citizens advice bureau and talk to someone who can give you some proper advice about what you should do and who can best help you prepare a defence.

Oh wow, that's so funny.

Are you American? Would he really sue??

Probably would win because you set out to cause bodily harm if he did.See if this (true) story helps calm him down-or maybe you could use it in your defence?

My Dad did a similar thing to my Mom when they were newly married-walking through Woolies when they used to sell everything, including mousetraps, she saw one on the floor and said
'whats that?' Dad says
'I don't know why don't you put your finger in and see what happens?' thinking she was taking the mickey, so she did-SNAP!

One not very pleased Mom-and one very sore finger, but they're still married after 45yrs.

um yes, because you deliberately tried to hurt the biscuit stealing monster (he sounds like a chump and a pig)----a mouse trap kills mice and rats so......it could easily break a finger

i wish you the best and hopefully he will be a man (and not a cry baby girl) and get over it----it sure is a funny story

not really....he shouldnt have been in your biscuit tin.
to cover your back though put a sticker on the tin, that says "warning-mousetrap inside" rub at the edges make it look a bit old-then tell your mate he was a tw*t for not noticing it!

He can sue, sure. And if he does sue, he does stand a chance. However, he would probably be open to having to explain why he is a thief.
