Interesting, got some answers I never expected... Personally, movies and films are different in my mind. My favorite movie and most influential was Boondock Saints. Most influential film was The Passion of The Christ. Close seconds were: in the movie category, The Patriot, and film, Band of Brothers (I consider it a film even though it was more of a limited series based on real stories).

I said Band of Brothers for all the same reasons everybody is mentioning Saving Private Ryan, but I think it did an even better job than Saving Private Ryan at detailing WWII as it wsa much more complete...

I loved "Shawshank Redemption", "Contact" "Pleasantville" and "Love, Acutally". All these movies make me cry and feel human again when I watch them. Like everyone else says, there are too many to name but in each of these that I named the acting was excellent and the story lines get to the basics of existence. Everyone needs love and hope.

I enjoyed what you wrote about your parents. It's wonderful to have someone praise and respect their parents. Yours are certainly special!! I was lucky to have several influential people along the way. My mother died when I was a baby and I had the best father in the world! He moved us to his parents' country home and no matter how busy he was teaching, coaching basketball and and enjoying his many hobbies, he always put me first. His brother lived there too and was a high school principal. He was the love of my life. He taught me many things about being a good person. From my grandfather I learned gentleness and kindness. He was a saint! When my uncle married, his wife helped me with the "girl" things of adolescence. She was more like a mother to me. I had a lot of teachers who helped me be a good student and were very influential and I had a couple of teachers who taught me by example how NEVER to become. My mother, by not being with me, was influential because that made me more grateful to be able to be with my children and determined to be a good mother to them. Through it all, the Lord Jesus has led me and directed my path. I wish everyone could have as many great people in their lives as I have had.

I would have to say 'Saving Private Ryan.' But not for the movie itself -- which I thought was terrific. But for what happened when the movie was over. The theater was so quiet and older men -- even older than my Dad -- crying because they were so moved by the movie and/or their memories. Until that moment I had forgotten that what a truly great movie can do for the soul.

Missippi burning is based on a true atory, that got to me. Platoon and Saving Private Ryan. My grandfather fought in WWII and was in the navy, it just made me realise what he went through. The battle seens in Saving Private Ryan, not so much the story line. Even war veterans who saw that on the big screen thought they were the most realistic they had seen. Any war film will always get me going.

Good question I like it. There's so many movies I love. Kill Bill 1&2, Scarface, The Untouchables, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, City of God, Gladiator, The Patriot... But the only movie I can say really moved me was Fight Club. It's engaging on too many levels and It delves so deep into my psyche that I feel an actual connection with the movie itself.

THE MOST - Saving Private Ryan.

If only for the graphic battle scenes. Opened my mind to how war really looks like.
