to Alaska from Penn Hills, Pa (near Pittsburgh).
How should we plan this as in what to bring, how long will it take, and what vehicle to use. There will be 4 or 5 of us. Also, we plan to do fishing and hunting, so are we allowed to bring guns?

Sounds like fun. I live near Pittsburgh, can I go too?
For a vehicle, I recommend a full-size passenger van or conversion van. You get comfortable seats and sit up straight. There is lots of interior space so you can move around inside.

You can get a Chevy Express with four wheel drive and trailer towing upgrades. A six foot box trailer should be big enough to carry clothing and gear. Take clothing, first aid kit, emergency radio, GPS locator, cell phone, food, tents, sleeping bags.

Depending on where you go in Alaska, the one way distance could be about 5,000 miles. Limit your driving to less than 600 miles a day. At that rate, you will be driving 11 to 12 hours a day, which is pretty tiring for anyone. Figure on 8 to 10 days of travel time, if you don't do sight seeing along the way.

Bring a big cooler and pack it with plenty of drinks and sandwich makings so that you can picnic on the way! You can bring guns as long as you bring the license with you. It takes 4 - 5 days to drive from the East coast (S. Carolina) to Washington State....not sure how far Alaska is from there. If you get the chance spend some time in Idaho and Washington....those states are gorgeous and the fishing is great.

I would definetly take an SUV because of the size and the ability to get through mountains etc. Take the route that you all agree on. I would say mostly highway, but a little backroads too. If you are renting a car I would suggest something with GPS that way you won't be afraid to leave the off beaten path. Sorry I don't know about the guns...I have one, but I'm not sure about if it is legal to carry in the car.

He in all hazard likes you extra beneficial than a chum. He does not comprehend you're human nonetheless yet and has a delusion approximately how the holiday will flow. The holiday despite the fact that might rapidly burst that bubble. highway journeys are strictly for acquaintances, friends, long term friends (of a similar gender till one is romantically susceptible in any different case). heavily, being cooped up in a motor vehicle... with a guy you like? What in case you need to (toot)? Or get clammy and perspire. then you certainly are caught in the vehicle, wanting a bathtub. you will no longer be able to flee! Couples might ultimately be happy with this kind of actual exposure to one yet another yet fairly, the longer previously that occurs, the extra effectual! this is in simple terms the concern that kills intimacy and desire. Touching one yet another starts off to start up feeling like touching oneself in case you lack any mind's eye approximately one yet another. A highway holiday is for you and your pal or team of friends... to get down and grimy, loopy, all out... discovering approximately your self and bonding including your friends down the line. such as Thelma and Louise! I had a female chum who desperate to flow on a highway holiday with a guy (she found out he wanted extra on the holiday yet suspected as a lot) and in the top, they did no longer flow there and neither one wanted extra beneficial than friendship. in spite of the reality that, i do no longer understand in the event that they are nevertheless acquaintances. Hmmm... some thing to think of approximately...

I would take an SUV and no guns. Bring a nice big cooler filled with sanwiches, chips and sodas for snackes so you don't have to stop and eat, its going to take a while to get there, but it sounds like fun!
