You people obviously dont have enough problems in your life to worry about if this is a concern to you. Seriously, I am shocked that some of the answers on here demonstrate a real strength of feeling in something so banal!

So, what is the genral feeling then? should crunchy foods like crips be bannd then, or should sound proof rooms be created all over the community for people to eat in? God forbid I might want to eat a crunchy apple, or some breakfast cereal...

Only if they're noisily chonking and slobbering with mouths open and accompanied by any other bad manners.
I had an ex who used to shovel food in and made such a disgusting noise. I tried to teach him a lesson once by slurping soup as noisily as I could, he told me off, when I pointed out that it was OK for him to do it but not me, he disappeared and sulked for a week.

Only people who act like I'm bothering them while they eat. Like fat people, acting to scared to eat because someone will criticize them for doing a daily need. I have a woman friend who was very
poor, and everytime she eats she offers me a bite. Probably because of people staring in her mouth and wanting some when she was young. And she gets MIFFED if I don't take a bite!

By boyfriend goes mad if he can hear people crunching food near him, he has to leave the room. However, quite often he will get up during the night make himself a large bowl of weetabix and cornflakes and bring them back to bed to eat! Luckily I don't care!

I can't stand people that eat noisily. I used to work with a guy that made the worst slabbery-chompy-lipsmacky noises ever and I would actually have to stand up and go and eat my lunch somewhere else because it made me feel physically sick.

Ask them to slow down and stop acting as though they are eating from a horse trough. Slow down and enjoy one another's company with some conversation. Or maybe they have a dental alignment problem.

Only those that hold their forks like a shovel, and those eating with their mouths open-it sounds like sloppy sex with too much KY.

I hate hearing people eating their lunch in their office, when you can hear people munching it sounds revolting!
