They would serve the every beck and call of the husband. cleaning, cooking and the like are expected. She would also never question the authority of her husband. All household decisions are the mans responsibility. The main role is to care for the children. They would also normally have 5 or more kids. Hope this helps.

Take away all electrical appliances that we have today...except stove and fridge. Strip the kitchen of microwave oven, dishwasher, and small appliances. Most didn't have dryers, just a clothes line, laundry took all day to do, and irioning the next day. Work, work and more work! There wasn't much time for anything other than child rearing and housework! (and gardening)

She made herself content at home. She found positive ways of communicating with her husband and children. She strived to please her family and what pleased them also pleased her. She dressed modestly, but attractively and showed skin only to her husband. The household routine was much of her day as was caring for any children they had. Her husband was the head of her home and he worked all day and sacrificed his time and money for his family. Children were obediant and happy and innocent, without adult-like knowledge and concerns. The family had contact with other relatives and friends with similar family values. This was a much more simple and innocent time that was good for family life. I fear that it is gone forever.
