(laughs) of course, it's legendary!!! but you have a point though, i have experienced the same thing, catching a legendary pokemon (articuno) with a pokeball... Hmm, now why? Because first of all, legendary pokemons are designed to be hard to catch, i don't know if it's true (according to my friends) but the chances of catching a legendary pokemon with full HP and no status ailment is mere 1%...Having a legendary pokemon's HP in a critical state (red bar where the beeping sound starts) and together with a status ailment (preferably sleep or frozen) the chance is a 9-15%...The no. of times you use a pokeball (greatball or ultra ball)increases the percentage of catching the pokemon... Or maybe, sometimes it's just mere luck... ^_^

There is a reason why they are called LEGENDARIES...
Geez... u use pokéball to catch Zapdos is just plain LUCK...

Next time u try to catch any legendaries... Make sure...
1: Bring 60+ UltraBall
2: Use False Swipe attack until the legendary's HP become 1
3: Make it ASLEEP
4: Ur Pokémon's lvl should not be too high or too low, above 5 lvl is just nice.

there is a calculator that calculates your chances of catching a Pokemon. In the old Red version, if you pressed B and up right when the poke ball was thrown, then it becomes a master ball. But legendaries still had to have an ailment.

Legendaries are indeed the toughest thing to deal with in ANY Pokemon games & not just the RPG, but the other types of Pokemon games like for example: Ranger, Mysterious Dungeon & Puzzle Challenge. Now to be able to catch one, you really need luck. Another way that I'm anyone will agree with me is a MasterBall, beacause it will never fail. For me, I like a good challenge, so I put them against my Lv. 100 Parasect, it has:
-False Swipe
-Spore
-Toxic
-Giga Drain

I put it that way so I can capture ANY Pokemon, even ghost types
(because False Swipe never hits them) Well, that's it from me...

Oh, e-mail me if you are very interested about Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, it has more than 10 Legendaries.

Because they are Legendary, maybe? I managed to catch mine with a few tries of the Ultra Ball.

they are hard to catch because, well, they're legendaries. legends just have a lower catch rate so you have to get lucky when you're throwing balls at them. you just have to be patient and keep trying over and over again until you catch it.

i only used regular poke-balls and i try my hardest to put them to sleep or paralyze them and when i use the poke-ball i hold down b,a until the poke-ball stops bouncing
o and i usually have allot of revives and max revives and potions and about 200 poke-balls and if all else fails try and try again
its worth it any legendary Pokemon is worth it
