i dont take a lunch break, but I am allowed the priviledge of using the internet and telephone whenever I like, and If I need to come in late or leave early it is never a problem. As far as employers go, by boss is very chilled out.

For me personally, I work 10 hour shifts. 4 days a week. Two of those days I work 10 hours straight. Then the next day I slack off because most of the work is complete.
So, no I don't take lunch breaks 2 out of the 4 days and never really though about it. I enjoy what I do so I guess that helps.
The companys management are also great people. You do for them, they do for you. Like it should be.

I don't usually take a lunch break, but I spend so much time during the day slacking off when I should be working, that the company is definitely not getting anything for free from me.

I'll be out of here in 35 minutes for my, 90 minute, lunch break.
And if work want to call me back from it then they have to pay me for the whole hour and a half.
I don't know where in the world you are but UK employment law states that employees are entitled to a 30 minute PAID meal break for every 4 hours they work in a shift.

I have never been employed by the hour and I wouldn't accept work like it. If you are doing some form of production work it may make some sense but it would be better to be on some form of piece work.

Teachers end up giving way more free hours than just their lunch breaks though, so we don't usually bother counting!

I take lunch everyday, now. I was an estimator first and that was very demanding and I am really glad that I am not doing that anymore. I am doing drafting and that isn't so harsh with the deadlines.

Unless you're on salary most places require you to take a lunch break.

Yes, especially since I I often end up staying 1/2 hour or more past quitting time to get the part-timers organized.
