The parents may choose whatever names they like - they don't have the last say. By royal tradition, Christian names for a royal baby must be submitted to the monarch. When George VI as Duke of York wanted to name His second daughter Anne, George V refused, therefore She became Princess Margaret. The present Queen, gave Her Father his wish by naming Her own Daughter Anne.

Any name can be chosen, however the Royal family use names from past family members, similar to what most people do using Grand Parents names as middle names, etc.

I don't think they do, but they tend to name their children after grandparents and ancestors. There some names that just don';t work well for royalty.

Wouldn't it be funny to have a Chesney, Britney or Kylie! Someone must decide - but then I guess even if a chav name was chosen (sorry if your name is Chesney, Britney or Kylie) then it would make it popular enough to stop sounding strange!
