20 days! That is four weeks of vacation! Sounds really good to me. You can basically go on holiday for an entire month, I don't see how anyone could complain about that.

Sounds ok taking into account your job. A lot of catering staff arent' entitled to paid leave at all! As an office worker though I would expect in this country to get at least 25 days plus public holidays (bank holidays etc), where i work that amount goes up to 30 after 10 years employment.
Oh and dont forget public and priviledge days add up to 10.5 over the year!

Legally in the UK that is correct as long as that includes Bank holidays on top of the 20 days
Companies do not have to give you extra days just for length of service I know it isn't fair but that is the law and some will stick to it if it suits them

In the company I work for most of the staff have 20 days which include bank holidays, we have tried talking to the owner of the company but he states thats all he has to give by law.

Yes, although most companies offer a scheme where you can increase your holidays as a type of bonus. But 20 days is the legal requirement by UK employmeny law and there is no law to state that this should be increased.

I live in the US and that sounds right for someone living here, I wouldn't know about England. Most people in the US would love 20 days off a year. Most people here only get 10 days off.

Across the board-yes-4 weeks a year is standard..but what about your long service leave...so many weeks after 10 years..so many weeks after 15 years..so many weeks after 20 years..Do you know what I mean? If you have not received these..you are right royally screwed brother!!! That new statue of Maggie in the House of Commons might deserve some spit and polish...Good Luck...

It all depends on the company. I can have one week vacation my first couple of years and then after that it goes to 2 weeks vacation...but I don't think it goes higher then that, I do get off every holiday though and for Christmas we shut down for 2 weeks and get paid for it...so I consider myself pretty lucky.

I would say NO!!
I started on 20 days last year and next year get 21.
look for another job or have it out with them
look on your contract.
if you have 20 years experience you should have no problem finding another job
i think they are taking the p-ss out of you
