When I package my console , do I need to pack any of the peripherals like cables, controller or hard drive? Will my console come back wiped? Any body out there with some experience of the dreaded "three lights"?

Thanks for all the info Jimmypop!
Do you know what website I can go to to tell me how my console is doing?

No, they should have told you to not send anything other than the actual console. In particular, make sure that you removed your HD, as you won't necessarily get the same console back, and could lose all of your data.

i had to send my BOX to Microsoft to get it repaired. What you should send is nothing but the console. Take the Hard Drive out and keep it. Also keep the cables, controllers, all that junk becuase they dont need any of that. You should have also got some type of Evaluation Number or something when you called XBOX. This number should be typed or written clear enough for people to read and taped to the side of the console (this number should also be written on the outside of the package under the address.

If you are sending your XBOX back in the box you got it in, be sure to wrap it in something so no one can tell its an XBOX (trust me on this one). I just used wrapping paper turned inside out. Also you might want to look into Postal Insurance, i think its only around $5 for the XBOX. this is so if your XBOX gets lost or stolen out of the mail that postal service will have to pay for it.

After that just chill. You should get your XBOX back in about a week. You can call or go online to check the status of your XBOX and know exsactly when its coming home!!

Good Luck!!!

I haven't been in your situation before, but if you are sending your 360 to a company that deals with console repairs all the time, then I'm sure they would have controllers and cables. However, the hard drive could be the source of the problem, I'm not sure. So I would send this off aswell, if I were you.

Hey, I just sent mine away last week. They come back 15 working days after being sent away, the xbox rep told me.
Put ur xbox in a plain box, so it doesnt look like an xbox, secure it with bubblewrap or newspaper, and call ups to come collect it, make sure not to close it b4 the courier comes as theyll have to look inside the package to see its not dangerous. theyll sellotape it and stick on the label you have printed. you take off the hard drive cables and controller and send just the xbox with no hard drive.
